Delete your SatoriScout account

SatoriScout is published by DER Security Corp. This page explains how to delete your account, and what happens to the data associated with it.

Delete your account from the app

The fastest route is in the app itself, and it completes immediately. This works for every sign-in method, including Google, Microsoft, and Apple.

  1. Open SatoriScout and sign in.
  2. Tap Account at the bottom of the scan screen.
  3. Choose Delete account.
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Your account is deleted at once. The app signs you out and removes the saved session from your device. The deletion is permanent, and the account cannot be restored.

Request deletion without the app

If you no longer have the app installed, or you cannot sign in, email support@dersec.io from the address the account was registered under and ask for the account to be deleted. We verify the request, delete the account, and reply once it is done. Requests are completed within 30 days of verification.

What is deleted, and what is kept

Account record Deleted Your email address, sign-in credentials, and any multi-factor enrollment. Removed immediately.
Saved session on your device Deleted Removed immediately.
Equipment readings you published Kept Manufacturer, model, firmware version, serial number, and the operational values reported by the equipment you scanned. Retained as device data, and no longer linked to you.
Server request logs Kept Retained for 90 days, then deleted automatically.

Why readings are kept

Readings describe equipment, not people. Each one records what a solar inverter, battery, or charger reported about itself: its manufacturer, model, firmware version, and how it is configured. That is information about a manufacturer's product, not about you.

We retain this information and study it in aggregate. Security weaknesses in distributed energy equipment usually belong to a make, a model, or a firmware version rather than to any one installation, so a broad body of real-world device and configuration data is what makes those patterns visible and gets them fixed. Readings contribute to that work, which benefits everyone running the same equipment.

Your account record is the only thing that ties a reading back to you, and deleting your account destroys it.

If you signed in with Google, Microsoft, or Apple

Your SatoriScout account is deleted in full, the same as any other. Your Google, Microsoft, or Apple account is not affected, because it was never ours to delete. You may separately withdraw SatoriScout's access from that provider's own security settings.
